Slow Burn hot sauces are handcrafted in small batches using high quality, organic and locally sourced ingredients. Their sauces expertly balance heat and flavor and have a variety of original recipes bound to impress both tame and adventurous palettes. The goal was to create an identity that reflected the vibrancy and uniqueness of the brand as well as highlight the handmade, small batch aspect of the product in the visuals and packaging.

Slow Burn Pepper Co creates small batch hot sauces for foodies everywhere.

WHAT I LEARNED:
I started this project very early in the comdes program and it has gone through many iterations. While reworking the packaging, I learned hierarchy is key to making a successful outcome. My previous attempt had more visual emphasis on illustrations rather than pertinent information like logo and flavor. Other changes in the evolution process included font pairings and color palette, where previously they were chosen for aesthetic purposes, new choices were made specifically to drive home Slow Burn’s philosophy and brand uniqueness. Ultimately, this project taught me every design choice should be made with that in mind.

WITH MORE TIME AND RESOURCES:
I would love to explore ways to expand beyond hot sauce, such as offering spice rubs and hot honeys, and figuring how to keep the labels unique to the product yet recognizable to the brand. I would also like to explore design and messaging for a social media presence.
